@Henry – I’m glad you brought up the Huff-Po controversy as I wanted to find away to link to this conversation on CBC’s Q about it some way. It’s an interesting debate. There are upsides and downsides to the fact that millions of us can now self-publish and broadcast.

but to the issue…this reminds me of the recent huffing surrounding the Huffington post where journalists submit on a voluntary basis, and articles are selected presumably the merit of the article. No one needs a background in journalism/politics/criticism. Just to write.
But this is all part in parcel of CRTC’s recent decision to go lax on accountability in the press core. Now everyone has a blank cheque to print fiction and call it news.
