Thank-you so much for this comment! I apologize it took me so long to reply. Your response to the piece really moved me, and I appreciate you sharing your experience with your father — sounds beautiful!
My Dad and I rehearsed a bit last week to see what was possible, and as it turns out, he may not be able to walk very steadily, but the man can still tango! Dancing with him in my parents’ kitchen last week I saw his face light up in a way that hadn’t happened for a long time — it was a real gift, and I can’t wait to do it again at the wedding! I appreciate your advice and comment. Can’t wait to see you in June (and finally meet!) xoxo

For me and my dad it was all about having a moment together and finding the right song. Because my daddy used to point up at the stars and teach me astrophysics, I knew I wanted something that represented that. He also introduced me to great music like Stan Getz and, consequently, Astrud Gilberto. I was so lucky to find a version of a Fly Me to the Moon sung by Astrud Gilberto! It was wonderful. In retrospect, we should have asked the rest of the guests come up and dance after a minute or so because it gets awkward when you’re dancing in front of people for so long… they might get bored and check their email. 😛 I think it would be easy for you to plan to dance together for a shorter amount of time and invite the guests to join in while your dad sits down when he needs to. Whatever happens, enjoy every second… the day goes by faster than you think and then it’s over. :*)
